1. The US death toll in Iraq has exceeded 100 for the month of October. So far, it's the 4th deadliest month for American forces since the war began in March of 2003.
2. KFC has announced plans to phase out trans fats from its fast food menu. While fried chicken is among the items getting a makeover, the company is still searching for a way to take the artery-clogging fat out of its biscuits.
3. One gallery is taking the phrase “high art” quite literally. An installation in San Francisco features a 2-foot-high marijuana plant. According to the artist, it's intended to spark debate about the drug's illegal and medicinal use.
4. And caught on tape. A sword-wielding man is overpowered by police in Hamburg, Germany. He was reportedly stopped by several officers after attempting to exit a train station without a ticket.
