1. Atlanta Falcons player Michael Vick pleaded not guilty to federal dogfighting charges and was released without bond until a November trial. He arrived boos at a federal courthouse in Richmond, Virginia. Prosecutors say a dogfighting operation occurred on his property.
2. Senate Democrats are calling for a perjury investigation against Attorney General Alberto Gonzales over his testimony about the firings of 8 US attorneys. They have also subpoenaed top presidential aide Karl Rove.
3. A top Korean official heads to Afghanistan on a mission to secure the release of 22 Korean hostages. They are part of a church group captured by the Taliban. One hostage, a deputy pastor has been killed.
4. A dog on the run snarled air traffic at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. This dog on the go trotted down to a runway, causing one jet to circle instead of land. It was finally corralled and taken to a shelter.
