1. Washington Redskins star safety Sean Taylor is in critical condition after being shot in the leg at his Florida home. Miami-Dade police are investigating the shooting as a possible armed robbery.
2. Police have now tentatively identified Baby Grace as two-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers. Her mother and stepfather are in police custody. The cause of death has not been determined. Investigators are still waiting for DNA test results.
3. Trent Lott is stepping down as the number two Republican in the Senate and leaving Congress at the end of the year. Mississippi 's Republican governor will pick a temporary replacement for Lott. The Senate seat is expected to remain in Republican hands.
4. Some are calling it an 'Inconvenient Reunion' at the White House. President Bush congratulated this year's American Nobel Prize winners. Among them, former Vice President Al Gore, he and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change share the Nobel Peace Prize.
