1. A lawyer for a British teacher in Sudan says his client has been convicted of insulting Islam and sentenced to fifteen days in jail. Gillian Gibbons was arrested after she let her students name a teddy bear Muhammad.
2. President Bush wants Democrats in Congress to approve money to fund the Iraq war "without strings" before leaving town for the Christmas holidays. Bush warns that doing nothing will mean an accounting nightmare for the Pentagon and affect the military's ability to do its job.
3. California police say Rodney King has been shot and injured. He is the man whose 1991 beating at the hands of Los Angeles police officers was caught on videotape. Authorities say he was shot in the face and arm but add the injuries aren't life-threatening.
4. Former Republican Congressman Henry Hyde has died. He spent more than thirty years in the House where he gained a reputation as a staunch abortion rights opponent and for helping lead the impeachment effort against President Clinton.
