1. Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday by an attacker who shot her after a campaign rally and then blew himself up. At least 20 others were also killed in the attack. Her death brings new chaos in the nation that's an important US ally in the war on terror.
2. Police are reportedly investigating whether the young man mauled by a tiger at the San Francisco Zoo taunted the animal. The 300-pound animal was shot to death around closing time on Christmas Day after it attacked 3 men, killing one.
3. In Washington State, detectives painstakingly picked their way through this rural property where 6 family members were killed Christmas Eve. The property owner's daughter and boyfriend were arrested and are expected to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
4. Hotel magnate Barron Hilton plans to give the bulk of his nearly 2.5 billion dollar fortune to charity. The New York Post figures Barron's granddaughter Paris Hilton could have inherited 100 million, but now could collect only 5 million.
