1. Firefighters in California are getting no help at all from the weather. Gusty conditions have already helped spread some of the flames. Forecasters say a high pressure system will be keeping things hot and dry for the coming days. 2. Vice President Cheney and a number of senators joined hundreds of mourners to pay their respects to Jesse Helms. The former North Carolina senator died on Independence Day. He was 86 years old. 3. Afghan officials say they have evidence that foreigners were behind yesterday's suicide bombing that killed 41 people. The attack hit the Indian Embassy and Afghan officials are implying Pakistan orchestrated the blast. 4. The trouble keeps piling up for Michael Vick. The former NFL star has filed for bankruptcy protection, stating he owes somewhere between ten and 50 million dollars. Vick is currently in prison, serving a 23-month sentence for bankrolling dogfights.
