1. Prosecutors say new DNA tests clear the family of JonBenet Ramsey in the 1996 killing of the six-year-old beauty queen. The District Attorney's Office says tests point to an unexplained third party.
 
2. More than 1,000 people have been confirmed ill from a salmonella outbreak, making it the worst food outbreak in years. Raw tomatoes are a chief suspect, but the government says some types of hot peppers may be implicated too.

 

3. Turkish officials say suspected al-Qaeda militants surprised a police officer near the US consulate, sparking a gun battle. Three attackers and three officers were killed in the Istanbul shooting. At least one attacker escaped.
 
4. The Eiffel Tower is getting a 267-million-dollar makeover,designed to improve the experience for visitors and make the monument greener, helping the environment. It is one of the world's most popular attractions, drawing nearly seven million visitors a year.
