Team China beat Team Hong Kong to take their second victory in the women's team match at the "Good Luck Beijing" Internation Table Tennis Invitational in Beijing on Tuesday.
In the singles, Guo Yan breezed past Lin Ling 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 12-10. Teenager Guo Yue beat Tie Yana 11-6, 6-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-5.
In the doubles, Li Xiaoxia, winner of the ITTF ProTour Finals on Sunday, paired with Guo Yue to win 11-4, 11-1, 11-9 over Zhang Rui/Tie Yana.
"I didn't start very well in the first three games," said Guo Yan. "But it's normal. Both Lin Ling and I are high-level players, so it's almost impossible for me to totally control the match at the beginning."
"Both Hong Kong and China played very well today," said Li Sun, coach of Team China. "We were so close to each other, especially the match between Guo Yue and Tie Yana."
Earlier Tuesday, Team China beat Team Europe 3-0 with breeze.
Guo Yan eased past Wu Jiaduo of Germany 11-4, 11-4, 11-3. Guo Yue, winner of the Zagreb Worlds this year, beat Boros Tamara of Croatia 11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 11-7.
In the women's doubles, Li Xiaoxia/Guo Yue won 10-12, 11-7, 11-5, 11-2 over Boros Tamara/Barthel Zhenqi.
Hong Kong beat Singapore 3-1.
Feng Tianwei of Singapore beat Lin Ling in the first match 5-11, 13-11, 12-13, 11-7, 11-6.
Tie Yana edged Sun Beibei of Singapore 11-7, 11-9, 6-11, 3-11, 11-7, and Zhang Rui beat Feng Tianwei 11-8, 12-10, 11-5.
In the doubles, Zhang Rui/Tie Yana beat Yu Mengyu/Sun Beibei 11-9, 11-5, 11-9.
Singapore beat Team Europe 3-1.
Feng Tianwei crushed Boros Tamara of Croatia 11-3, 11-8, 11-9. However, Barthel Zhenqi of Germany upset Sun Beibei 11-9, 11-6, 11-3. Yu Meng Yu edged Boros Tamara 12-10, 12-10, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9.
In the doubles, Yu Mengyu/Sun Beibei beat Wu Jiaduo/Barthel 14-12, 11-6, 11-6.
