Auto show showcases tech gadgets
At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, several automakers introduced some tech gadgets to make driving much easier.
From navigation systems to music storing hard drives - carmakers are emphasizing interior design in a bid to make their vehicles more attractive to a much more selective and demanding general public. Jon Decker reports.
One of the innovations at the North American Auto Show in Detroit is Ford's "Sync".... a fully integrated voice-activated in-car communications system for your mobile phone and digital music player. The Sync System will be available in the fall exclusively on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products in North America. Ford's partner is Microsoft and the idea behind the "Sync" is to make driving safer and more enjoyable. The price-- under $1,000.
Chrysler has introduced its own multi-media navigation entertainment and communication system called, "MyGig". Controled through voice commands and utilizing a touch screen, the MyGig can download photos and music to a hard drive from a CD or a USB memory device. The system also can play DVDs when the transmission is in park and also features a voice-activated navigation system.
