　　The much lamented loss of this year's Glastonbury festival has meant that many revellers are going to one of the UK's other events. Here is a rundown of the best alternative happenings to point your camper van at this summer.

　　Latitude Festival, Henham Park, Suffolk The inaugural weekend of this festival, organised by the same promoters of Glastonbury takes place in August, and includes Anthony and the Johnsons, Mogwai, and The Zutons on its line-up. Much more than a music festival, Latitude will also include venues for comedy, burlesque, poetry and even sculpture.

　　Download Festival, Castle Donington, Derbyshire Purely for fans of metal, the Download Festival has gone from strength to strength in the past few years, picking up the mantle from the Monsters of Rock festival that used to play in the venue. Line up this year includes Tool, Metallica and Guns N Roses.

　　Wickerman Festival, Dundrennan, Scotland This eclectic festival celebrates its counter-culture roots with a huge mix of world music, an easy going attitude and a seventy-foot wicker man that is 'sacrificed' to the festival gods on the final night.

　　Culture club For those wanting a more cultured affair, Brighton and Belfast both hold month long arts festivals in the summer which include theatre, dance and art exhibitions. Far from being small scale, these events involve the whole community. The Belfast festival （called the Feile an Phobail West Belfast community festival） started life as a street party in 1988, and has grown into a city-wide affair that has played host to the likes of Blur, Sinead O'Connor and The Stone Roses.

　　So if a good time, great music, and years of culture and tradition are for you, then head to the UK this summer - there really is something for everyone！
