A unique mix of venues

London 2012 will offer a unique mix of state-of-the-art stadia, world-famous venues and iconic city centre locations. 

A compact Olympic Park just seven minutes by train from central London will be home to the main Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Velodrome, Hockey Centre and multi-sport arenas.

Wembley, Wimbledon and Lord's Cricket Ground will line up alongside Greenwich Park, Regent's Park, Hyde Park and Horse Guards Parade.

And outside London, the rowing lake at Eton Dorney, the marina at Weymouth Portland and six of the country's most famous Football grounds would also host events.

Olympic Stadium

The 80,000 seat Olympic Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the Athletics.   

Aquatics Centre

Preparatory work has begun on the site of the Aquatics Centre in east London. The facility will include two 50m swimming pools and a 25m diving pool. 

Hockey Centre

The new Hockey Centre would comprise two separate stadia, providing facilities suitable for every contest in the Hockey Tournament. 

Multi-Sport Arenas

Four multi-sport arenas within the Olympic Park will ensure that competitors in the Fencing, Modern Pentathlon, Volleyball, Handball and Basketball events would be right at the heart of the action.

Wembley

The new 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium will be the most advanced sports stadium in the world. The new stadium's dramatic arch soars over 130m into the west London sky, more than four times the height of the old Twin Towers. 

Wimbledon

Home of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and the setting for the eponymous tennis tournament since 1877, Wimbledon is one of the most famous and historic sporting venues in the world.

奥运体育场主馆

可以容纳八万人的奥运体育场主馆将作为奥运会开幕式，闭幕式的举行地，以及田径项目的主赛场。

水上运动中心

位于伦敦东部的水上中心的准备工作已开始就绪，该场馆包括两个50米的游泳池和一个25米的跳水池。

曲棍球中心

新的曲棍球中心包括两个独立的体育馆，内部设施可供所有级别的曲棍球比赛使用。

多功能运动场

位于奥林匹克公园内的四个多功能运动场将可以确保障碍赛、现代五项、排球、手球和篮球等比赛成为众人瞩目的赛事。

温布利体育场

新建的温布利体育场将可以容纳九万人，堪称世界上最先进的体育场馆。新的球场计划将于2006年底完工开放，其拱梁跨度达130米，象一道美丽的彩虹点缀在伦敦西部的天空。

温布尔登体育场

温布尔登是世界最知名且历史最悠久的体育场之一，这里是全英草地网球和门球俱乐部（All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club）的大本营，同时自1877年来，每年夏天著名的温网公开赛都在这里举行。
