| Retief Goosen had to pull out of the Qatar Masters |
Goosen was trying to become the first player to win the European Tour event in consecutive years but was forced out Wednesday.
He underwent corrective laser surgery 10 days ago, but experienced blurred vision during Tuesday's practice round and flew to Dubai for further treatment.
The South African said he regretted being unable to defend his title. However, Goosen said doctors in Dubai advised him to return to London for treatment.
Swedish golfer Henrik Nystrom will replace the South African in this week's tournament.
